Stainless Incast is a privately owned business established in 1977 to
specialise in the production of stainless steel investment cast components for New
Zealands agricultural export industries. Since then we have diversified into
producing castings for a wide range of other industries and now export to several
countries including Australia, USA and Europe. Each casting we make is to our customers own specification. Our foundry is at 16 Waller Terrace, Christchurch. |
Our investment casting technology is the traditional lost wax process. This involves injecting molten wax into a die tool, building a ceramic shell around the wax assembly and burning out the wax prior to pouring. We use the latest environmentally friendly water based colloidal silicates to formulate our slurries. Our castings are fettled to the finish required by our customers.
We make castings for the defence, marine, agricultural, forestry, dairying, meat, wool, fishing, food processing and other manufacturing industries.
We cast in several austenitic, martensitic and duplex stainless steel alloys including CF8, CF8M, CA-40, 2205, HP-50 and 17- 4PH.
These provide the various properties our customers require from stainless such as corrosion resistance combined with hardness and heat resistance.
Our standard tolerance is +/- 0.25 mm in 25 mm. Often the tolerance required can be achieved by subsequent alterations to the die tool.
We cast up to 10 kg in weight and 360 x 360 x 460 mm in size.
Our standard process produces a surface finish of 1.6 µMRA.
A polished finish can be very easily achieved from this if required.
Each casting is individually inspected by our foundry manager prior to despatch.
An independent chemical analysis of each batch of castings is supplied as requested.
Our tooling costs are very competitive as we use a low pressure wax injection system which enables our pattern maker to build inexpensive die tools mostly using epoxy resin. This keeps the entry cost for a new customer to a minimum.
These services are provided as required.
New Zealand has a very low exchange rate which is expected to continue for several years due to a high balance of payments deficit. Compared with other industrialised countries we have a low wage cost structure despite having a well educated work force. We also have low energy and overhead costs. These factors together with our low tooling costs make us very cost competitive internationally on short production run work.
Export orders are priced in USD per casting on a CIF basis to the nearest international airport.
Domestic orders are priced ex our factory.
Given the size of our plant we are best able to supply small to medium production run quantities. No order is too small for us.
All export orders are delivered by air cargo freight to your nearest international airport within 5 days of despatch from our factory.
Although New Zealand is a long way from the worlds major markets, distance need be no impediment to placing an order with us. Air cargo costs are more than offset by our low production costs.
To provide you with a quotation we need either a sample component or a technical drawing which you can send us by facsimile. Please advise the number required.
Quotations for tooling and unit price are provided in 2 days by either email or fax.
If you are looking for a reliable supplier of a short to medium production run of stainless steel castings requiring personal attention, we would like to help you.
